Privacy Policy

Climate Engine's Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the Services, you consent to the collection and use, store, or share your data as outlined in the Privacy Policy.

Collection of information: 

Users directly provide personal information such as first and last name, email address, and organization when creating an account at app.climateengine.org. 

In addition, Climate Engine and our service providers automatically collect usage data and cookies. Usage data may include items about your device and network such as Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser version, and device model. We record site activity, including pages visited and access times. 

We also use web cookies which are small files, which may include a unique identifier, sent to your browser and stored on your device. They are used to track data analytics to improve your site experience. You may instruct your browser to reject or delete cookies but by doing so you may interrupt service.

Users may opt-in to allow access to additional Google Earth Engine data. Climate Engine will be able to access Earth Engine assets, perform Earth Engine processing on your own account, and directly export imagery or other formats from your Earth Engine account directly to Google storage such as Earth Engine assets or Google Cloud Storage Buckets.

Use of Information: 

Climate Engine uses your data to deliver services to you and improve the site experience. Information is used in the following manner. 

  • Deliver, sustain, and enhance services to you.
  • Authenticate your identity and personalize your site experience.
  • Communicate via email with users.
  • Detect security breaches and investigate site errors. 
  • Analyze user site usage to improve the user experience.
  • Process Earth Engine tasks using your account.
  • Use and export to your Earth Engine assets.
  • Export csv data tables and imagery to your project’s cloud buckets.

Sharing of Information:

Your data may be shared under the following circumstances.

  • Transferring data on computers located outside your state or other governmental jurisdiction where privacy laws may differ. 
  • Third-party service providers that may need access to personal information to facilitate services such as authentication, web hosting, and analytics. 
  • To comply with legal obligations and lawful requests by public authorities. 

Data Security:

Climate Engine strives to ensure the protection of your personal data from disclosure or unauthorized use through best practices and trusted service providers. Despite our precautions, no transmission and storage of data over the internet and cloud is completely secure and we cannot guarantee the security of your information in the use of our services.

Our Service may include links to external websites that are not under our control. If you choose to click on a third-party link, you will be redirected to that third party's website. We strongly recommend that you review the Privacy Policy of any website you visit.

Please note that we do not have control over, and are not responsible for, the content, privacy practices, or policies of any third-party sites or services.

Website Analytics:

We use internal Google Cloud services to monitor and analyze the use of our Services, including analytics provided by Firebase, Cloud Run, Logs Explorer, and Cloud Monitoring API. These data are not processed by Google or any third party to create ads profiles or Google Ads products and are owned and managed by Climate Engine.
